Old fashioned fun for Family Day
Old fashioned fun for Family Day
Classic winter fun has been added to Fort Saskatchewan’s annual Vintage Snowmobile Show. The Historical Society has organized a Traditional Winterfest celebration for Monday, Feb. 20, along with the annual snowmobile show.
Try some old fashioned curling, build a snowman, ride a toboggan, skate on the outdoor rink or taste some maple syrup taffy that day as well as watching the lineup of vintage snowmobiles.
You can also vote for your favorite snowmobile, and help build a snow maze.
There will also be prizes for the most authentic toboggan, best snowman, and to the winning curling team.
Roasted hot dogs and smokies will also be available to roast for two dollars each, and hot chocolate and coffee for just one dollar.
Admission was to be charged, but the whole event is now free to enjoy.
The vintage snowmobile show has been held annually since 2002, featuring machines built before 1980. Starting with just a handful of machines on display, the event quickly grew to become the largest vintage snowmobile show in Western Canada.
The Historical Society decided this year to expand the event even further, but adding more fun for the whole family in the form of this old fashioned winter festival.
The Traditional Winterfest takes place at the Fort Saskatchewan museum Family Day, which is Monday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
