Our community came together this week to deliver more Christmas hampers than ever before.
Volunteers braved minus 26 C weather to deliver hampers to 243 Fort families Saturday, Dec. 18.
The campaign has been organized annually for 36 years thanks to the Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherers Society. Money collected during the campaign also goes toward operation of the food bank throughout the year.
Major donations received just this week included $5,000 from Sherritt, another $5,000 worth of turkeys from Twice But Nice Society, and $1,214.05 plus 1,169 lbs. of food from the new Pack a Patrol Car event held on Sunday.
Local RCMP and Municipal Enforcement members collected donations to the food bank at Freson Bros. grocery store that day.
The campaign also received help this week from Zimmerman Chiropractic, the Fort Black Society, Country Chic, the Kellington Family, James Mowatt school, Dow employees, Fort Sask. Firefighters Association, the Shell Scotford Social Club, and École Parc Élémentaire.
