Green bin police on summer patrol
The green bin police will be checking your organic waste cart for misuse, Fort officials announced this week.
These "Waste Educators" started examining green bins Monday, May 12, and will continue to do so throughout the spring and summer.
“Our team is identifying common sorting errors, addressing intentional misuse of the green organic carts, and recognizing great sorting when we see it,” says Sophie Angoh, Supervisor of Waste Programs. “When carts are sorted right and placed properly, it helps keep collection smooth and costs low — and that benefits everyone through consistent servicing costs.”
Residents may find doorhangers or golden sheep stickers left behind on their carts with either feedback or praise, depending on the findings. Problems they will be looking for include plastic bags and soil or sod in the carts.
