Water main replacement on 101 St.
Water main work will close part of 101 Street for much of the rest of summer.
The troublesome downtown water line on 101 Street is being replaced between 99 Avenue and 97 Avenue.
That line broke in February 2024 and again in March 2024, as well as in January, 2023. It also broke in February 2016, February 2013, October 2012, and also broke near the water tower in April 2010.
This year's work began on Monday, July 14, with both southbound lanes of 101 Street closed.
North and southbound lanes will close starting later this month. Motorists can detour using Sherridon Drive and 93 Avenue.
Homes and businesses along 101 Street will lose front street access during this work, but all have rear alley access. Construction will only take place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on weekends.
The project is officially expected to be completed by mid-August.
Another major project planned this summer will see 108 Street closed between 99 Avenue and 98 Avenue to replace a sewer line. This work is expected to start later this month.
