City Council is now one step away from taking the final plunge and approving a new pool.

A motion to borrow up to $66.6 million for the project received first reading Tuesday. Combined with almost $6 million promised by Dow, this loan will allow construction to begin on a $72 million pool in the Dow Centennial Centre.

Some $5.4 million of that has already been committed to produce the detailed drawings for the project.

Final approval of the loan bylaw must now wait until City Council's August meeting..

Construction is expected to begin in spring, 2026.
