Local poppy fund help Wainwright
The local Legion poppy campaign will include support for families, friends and comrades affected by the Wainwright incident.
The poppy campaign kicks off this weekend. A poppy box at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 27 front desk will be dedicated especially for Wainwright.
Four soldiers died and at least 19 remain in critical condition following a fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright Saturday, Oct. 17.
Fort Saskatchewan's Royal Canadian Legion Branch 27 is responsible for the poppy campaign in Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Bruderheim and Lamont.
The Poppy Fund is an important service to local veterans. Monies collected here stay here in a protected fund used to help veterans with needs, especially in an emergency. The fund has been used to buy scooters and other medical equipment, and to help both Valour Place and the Kipnes Centre for Veterans.
Businesses and families interested in purchasing a wreath can contact the local legion at 780-998-3466.
