New life at vacant downtown lot
A new building is going up in a long-vacant lot on 102 Street in downtown Fort Saskatchewan.
The new single-story building will include bays for up to three businesses, one of which will be a medical service of some kind.
The site is the former location of the Tomlinson Block, which burned down in 1991. The site has therefore been empty for 35 years. The Twice But Nice building is also on a portion of the former Tomlinson Block site.
Other empty lots in the downtown include the former blacksmith shop site on 103 Street, empty since 1974; the former second hand store site on 100 Avenue, empty since 2004; and the former Mohawk station site on 99 Avenue, empty since 2021.
