Heavy rain floods roads, golf course
A weekend of rain flooded part of Highway 15 at Lamont, some local roads and trails, and the Fort golf course, and prompted the City of Fort Saskatchewan to ask residents to reduce water use Sunday.
Highway 15 was impassable due to flooding at the west entrance to Lamont between Highway 29 and Highway 831 Monday morning.
Ross Creek also overflowed its banks, flooding paths and the Fort Saskatchewan Golf Club course, which remains closed as of Tuesday until further notice.
Greenfield Bend in Fort Saskatchewan is also closed until further notice after flooding Sunday, as are several rural roads in Lamont County and Strathcona. The boat launch is also closed due to rising river levels.
Environment Canada reported a total of 133 mm of rain at its Elk Island National Park station Saturday and Sunday.
